Inspiration Monday- The Art Of Walt Disney

I really enjoy this site. It's filled with concept designs and sketches from various disney features. Although it's done in french, its filled with incrediable images, plus clips from the animation tour in paris.

2008 Animation Demo Reel

This is the updated version of my animation demo reel. I didnt put any sound in because it was drowning out the dialogue. Cheers!

Inspiration Monday

Its been quite some time since I posted images and video for inspiration mondays, but I'm going to try and post these up again for those lazy Mondays. Check out this blog by a young Pixar artist by the name of Chris Chua. Chris has some really nice drawings and quick sketches. When you have a chance, check out his animation, which you'll find a link at the right side of his blog. His animation shows why he now works at Pixar. Great storytelling, and acting...in 2d.

Frog Sketch

After I sketched this, I noticed it looks a little similar to Sebastian the crab from the Little Mermaid. Back to the drawing board I guess.

Conversations With Other Women

I just happened to see this movie on the movie network, and thought that it was very cool. The movie is done with a split screen, so that you get to see the character and their reactions during their entire conversations. I dont know how many movies have done this before, but I thought it was a very clever idea.

Le Building

I know that this clip is a few years old, but it's so friggin good! I loved the character designs and the story idea. So good!

Sweeney Todd Designs

I did some quick sketches while watching the movie.

Animation Area.

Thought I would share a few photos of what my work area looks like. I've been working at a small studio called Huminah Huminah Animation over in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. There are only 21 guys working there in a studio thats 20 000 square feet. Things have been very steady with work lately, but the hours has been long and tiring. Having a desk like this really motivates you. Did you realize I was a Disney fan?

The Art of Bee Movie

There seems to be a lot of times when a new animation book hits the shelves, and inside is nothing but colour frames, watercolours, and storyboards. Not to say that colour frames and storyboards are not important, but for someone like myself, (who is an animator/character designer), we love seeing the rough designs!! Thats why I highly recommend this book. If you either love this movie or hate it, this book is full of awesome rough character sketches. Its worth the buy.

Old Christmas Cards

I found these old drawings while flipping thru one of my old sketchbooks. These were placed inside christmas cards and given to family and friends.
